As a way to support teaching, optimize the use of resources and comply with the demands and needs of society, the ITCR establishes, maintains and renovates research and extension centers and projects. The country benefits from those actions in different scientific and technological areas.
The Costa Rica Institute of Technology has re-structured research and extension programs in order to address the actual technological needs of different sectors, the country and abroad. In an effort to provide an appropriate technological approach that could comprise capabilities and transfer results in R&D format, it seeks to provide tangible products through research centers. These centers operate as permanent units and take part in projects and processes within and outside the ITCR. These projects aim at finding new ideas, detecting problems and providing solutions to the areas involved.
