Emphasis is given to (applied) technological research, particularly that which pursues the generation of new (technical) knowledge to benefit the production and distribution of goods and services in the community and that which seeks technological inventions and significant improvement.

The Cooperation Board manages and coordinates all inter-institutional cooperation activities at a national and international level.  The following areas have been created to address all pertaining activities:  Academic and Student Mobility, International Programs Organization, Donation Statements and Agreements and Project Management.

• Approve research and extension projects as well as the activities that foster research and extension within the Institute.

• Establish approval, elaboration, execution and assessment procedures for research and extension programs as well as those of course services sales.

• Recommend the location of research and extension programs to the Institutional Council as well as the creation, modification and closure of Research Centers.

• Express criteria in regards to all agreements and contracts affecting research and extension projects.

• Coordinate all the areas that link research and extension with teaching.
