The Technological Institute of Costa Rica (ITCR) is a national autonomous institution of higher education devoted to teaching, research and extension of technology and science linked to the development of Costa Rica. It was created through law number 4777 on June 10, 1971. Within its organizational structure, the following areas can be mentioned:
Institutional Assembly: highest authority of the ITCR
Institutional Council: principal directive board of the ITCR
Rector: head of the ITCR
Vice-rectories: four working areas that comply with the policies of the ITCR

Mission
The mission of the Technological Institute of Costa Rica is to: “Contribute to the integral development of the country by graduating professionals, working on research and extension and leading technological, scientific and technical matters; and by keeping academic excellence, following all ethic, humanistic and environmental principles from the perspective of a high quality state university competing nationally and internationally”.
