The School of Sciences and Arts was founded in 1976 to put forward service courses for the Agronomy Career in the campus of San Carlos.

In 1995 the offer of courses expanded even more, for the reason that the School established the careers of Business Administration and Computer Engineering.

This School is characterized by its academic component constituted by an interdisciplinary diversity. Its courses consider the following disciplines: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Philology, Sociology, English, and Law.

Furthermore, it has always developed different investigation and extension projects, which has created bonds in teaching, community projection and investigation. Since it satisfies the tourist needs to be developed in a national and rural context, the School has generated the creation of its first career called: Sustainable Rural Tourism Procedure which started in 2006.
