 School of Forest Engineering


The School of Forest Engineering seeks the integrated development of the country, educating professionals and directing research and extension projects in forestry.  It pursues technological and scientific leadership, academic excellence and respect for ethical, humanist and environmental principles from the perspective of a State University enhancing quality and national and international competitiveness.

In this context, the School of Forest Engineering takes a main role in the search for a well-balanced relationship between society and natural resources, looking for a better quality of life and the continued existence of natural resources in Costa Rica.

 CIIBI (Research Center on Forest-Industry Integration):


The Research Center on Forest-Industry Integration (CIIBI) is an academic unit affiliated to the School of Forest Engineering.  It is committed to the immediate needs of the production sector and offers the following services:

Training, consultancy and technical assistance in all its fields.
Tree commercialization
Sharpening of cutting tools
Identification of forest species
Physical and mechanical analysis of wood
Adhesive tests
Conventional sawing
Small bolts processing
Wood drying and preservation
Plague and forest diseases diagnosis
Forest evaluation
