 School of Chemistry


The School of Chemistry is an academic unit of the Costa Rica Institute of Technology.  Its mission is to contribute to the sustainable development of the country and region, educating professionals and providing scientific and technological knowledge in applied chemistry and environment.

 The School of Chemistry offers a major in Environmental Engineering since 2006.  Its objective is to provide scientific and technological solutions to the prevention, control and correction of environmental problems in a thorough and in an environmentally friendly way. It includes ecological, social, economic and cultural issues to build the necessary conditions that guarantee a better quality of life for the Costa Rican society.

 CEQIATEC (Chemistry and Microbiology Services Laboratory) Services


CEQIATEC was established in 1981 and it offers advisory, training, chemical and microbiological analyses to the private, governmental and autonomous organizations.    It is focused on Analytical Chemistry and Industrial Microbiology; however, in 1996 it expanded to other areas because of the acquisition of new equipment and infrastructure:

Water:  consumption, industrial use, irrigation and residual, according to national standards.
Food: proximal, nutritional labeling (including basic analysis, liposoluble and hydrosoluble vitamins, cholesterol and minerals, among others); chemical pollutants (pesticides and heavy metals); microbiological pollutants and quality indicators.
