Importance of architecture
While a part of the responsible public view and sectors notice the importance of the social and economic problems, the citizen sees his opportunities limited to understand and manage the criteria related to aesthetics and spatial ordering. Among others, there are three that have mainly contributed to this situation:
• the absence of scientific and strict analyses about the role of the architects and town planners in their activities. Furthermore, it did not have the tools to provide the necessary information to the citizen.
• The social and economical crisis that has covered our society, has put a shadow over the elements, typical to our urban and architectonic culture.
• The need of strategic and scientific studies and analyses that situate architecture and town planning and their economical, political and environmental roll.
This situation motivates the ITCR to take, from the academy’s point of view, the necessity of an interdisciplinary approach to its problems, alternating with theoretical and practical processes, assigned to illustrate and give context to the generation process and physical and spatial ordering.
Characteristics of the School for Architecture and Town Planning
The School for Architecture and Town Planning provides a historical, social and cognitive perspective to the relation between architecture and town planning in order to get familiar with and to understand the social-economical territorial, urban and rural situation, the causes and modernization. Encourages the development of a integral creation that examines cultural, ethnical and moral values, respect for the individual and groups, solidarity, responsibility, discipline, empathy, love to the constant study and search for truth and equity.
Develops integral programs that consist the aspects of organisation, structure, functioning and integration and topics that illustrate the current state of architecture and town planning, the ideology, science and environmental demands, the principal morphological and typological features in such a way that they can visualize the narrow relation that exists with spatial production, the cultural surroundings and the urban development.
Theoretical conceptualization of the academy
